Passing the Torch of EMF Activism, Jim, Ezekial, and the FDA
On December 21, 2022, thanks in great deal to Attorney and public health crusader Jim Turner, a petition was filed with Health and Human Services Agency’s Food and Drug Administration, questioning “regulatory uncertainty and ambiguity,” resulting an imminent hazard to the public.
Many are mourning his sudden passing this month, while also appreciating the tremendous contributions he has made in protecting health freedoms.
“Jim Turner, a towering figure in the movement for consumer choice in health care, passed away suddenly on January 25, 2022, at the age of 81. Jim was a valued lawyer, strategist and advisor to practitioners, producers, organizations, and individuals in advancing homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, and the broad field of energy medicine. He also developed and promoted policies to reduce public health threats from radio frequency emissions, dangerous dental materials, and unsafe food additives and drugs. As co-founder and co-editor of The Transpartisan Review (www.transpartisanreview.org) he helped present an alternative perspective to the left-right dichotomy. James Turner’s Enduring Impact on Health Freedom and Consumer Choice
“Mr. Turner has also been on the front lines of natural health, cooperating with a broad spectrum of other consumer groups to advance preservation of federally recognized homeopathic medicine; to oppose dangerous exposure to radio-frequency radiation; and to preserve access to innovative healthcare modalities, including energy medicine.
Mr. Turner also represented healthcare professionals fighting anti-competitive federal and state trade rules. He played a key role in mainstreaming the practice of acupuncture and served as lead attorney on a petition to the FDA that resulted in the classification of acupuncture needles as medical devices “safe for general use” by trained acupuncture practitioners, and in legalizing the importation and distribution of acupuncture needles in 1996.
He persuaded the Federal Trade Commission to cease its investigations targeting chiropractic care. He represented dentists ordered by state licensing boards to withhold information from their patients about the effects of mercury in dental amalgam fillings, including risks to patients, dental workers, and the environment. Mr. Turner’s original advocacy was ultimately vindicated by a Food and Drug Administration Safety Communication on dental amalgam in 2020.”

On January 26, 2022, Americans for Responsible Technology, and the Broadband International Legal Action Network held their monthly Webinarat which Jim Turner was scheduled to speak. The January topic was ‘Citizen Rights and Remedies Under the Shadow of 5G Surveillance and Behavioral Modification. At the beginning of the video, Doug Wood, founder of Americans for Responsible Technology, paid tribute to Jim Turner. He explained that Jim played a significant role strategizing to file the lawsuit against the FDA.
The press release issued by the non-profits announced about the legal effort in which Jim Turner played a significant role reads,
“WASHINGTON, Dec. 21, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — A group of non-profit organizations and private individuals led by the national coalition Americans for Responsible Technology (ART) today petitioned the Health and Human Services Department and its constituent agency, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to publicly issue a declaration of Imminent Hazard and clarify its position on the safety of human exposure to radiofrequency (RF) radiation emitted from cell phones, cell towers, smart meters, small cell antennas, wireless kiosks, tablets, computers and other wireless devices. The groups contend that the FDA is allowing and encouraging the misleading and false impression that it has engaged in a careful examination of the evidence, reached a science-based conclusion and developed standards for human exposure following government procedures. It has not.
“We’re asking a simple and basic question that Americans have a right to know the answer to: where are the FDA’s science-based standards for exposure to RF radiation?” says ART founder and National Director Doug Wood, whose organization represents more than 130 grassroots organizations across the country. “The FDA is our nation’s primary agency to protect and promote public health and it has a statutory responsibility to evaluate the safety of wireless devices. This is an imminent hazard to human health. The FDA must act.”
The rapid deployment of 5G antennas in neighborhoods across the country, along with the national effort to make every school classroom wireless has raised questions among parents and others as to the safety of near-constant exposure. The concurrent publication of more studies linking RF radiation to cancer, DNA damage and reproductive and neurological problems, has ignited a fierce debate over the wisdom of increasing involuntary exposure to RF radiation. Petitioners argue that the current FCC thermal guidelines, developed more than a quarter century ago, do not address proven biological impacts occurring at levels below the thermal threshold.
“The public is completely uninformed and unprotected,” says Cindy Franklin, founder of Consumers for Safe Cell Phones, a co-petitioner in the action. “Most people think the FDA is carefully evaluating the science, and that FCC regulations are based on properly developed scientific input from the FDA. None of that is true.”
A recent lawsuit seeking a judicial review of the FCC’s decision to keep its outdated safety guidelines in place resulted in the Court ordering the FCC to look again at emerging science linking exposure to RF radiation with biological harm, especially to children and the environment. The court called the FCC’s decision to keep its thermal-only guidelines “arbitrary and capricious.”
“People all over the country are suffering from exposure, but may not realize it’s the RF radiation from a nearby antenna, smart meter or router,” says Ellen Marks, founder of the California Brain Tumor Association whose husband developed a brain tumor after years of holding his cell phone against his head. “RF radiation can cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, insomnia, inability to concentrate – and those are just the acute symptoms. Cancer takes longer to develop. We can’t wait. This is a public health crisis that needs to be addressed immediately!”

• The FDA has not conducted a high-level evaluation of the science in accordance with federal requirements.
• There is a widespread public misconception that the FDA has in fact, conducted such an evaluation and found wireless devices and infrastructure to be safe.
• More and more people are reporting serious health problems linked with exposure to wireless radiation.

Twelve year-old Ezekial Mirin was 5 months old when his mother became disabled with electrical sensitivity. He has never known life without his mother not being threatened by environmental wireless exposures.

My name is Ezekiel I am 12 years old.
I was 5 months old when my mom first got electrohypersensitivity.
Since then my mom has nearly not been able to go to social places because of the high levels of wireless polution.
I have a friend who’s mom has the same condition.
There are millions of other people with my moms condition and I know this because my parents are always getting calls about it.
What I am saying here is that many. people are suffering and even dying because you are letting the telecom industry get away with selling unsafe products.
Ezekial’sparents Godelieve Richards and Jonathan Mirin are the founders on the Piti Theatre Company. The playrights created “To Bee of Not to Bee,’ “Innocenzo,” and “ Canary in the Goldmine” and have been an active force, internationally, in creatively outreaching to the public about the risks of wireless technologies.
Jonathan Mirin was also petitioners in a landmark legal case against the FCC. The Court ruled in favor of the public that the FCC decision not the review its RF exposure guidelines was arbitrary, capricious, and not evidence-based. The issue remains unresolved,
