In Memoriam to Michèle Rivasi

Michèle Rivasi’s passing is a loss to us all on many fronts.

As a Green Party Member of the European Parliament (MEP), Michèle’s activism spanned many different areas including pesticides, nuclear energy, mandatory vaccination, pharmaceutical practices, and more recently, the harms of electromagnetic radiation, never side-stepping controversial issues or compromising values for political gain. According to Wikipedia, she was even temporarily arrested at the age 66 while protesting the presence of U.S. B61 nuclear bombs in Europe

As recently as April 2023, she hosted a European Parliament Workshop on Electro-Hyper Sensitivity, and in Feb. 2023, in collaboration with Europeans for Safe Connections, she convened a 5G Health and Environmental workshop in Brussels.

Together with Dr. Klaus Buchner, Michèle released a report in 2020 authored by Hans van Scharen, that denounces the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) for being under the influence of the telecommunications industry and ignoring the science.

In praise of Michèle and Klaus for sponsoring this report, Theodora Scarato from Environmental Health Trust wrote,

“We applaud European Members of Parliment Michèle Rivasi and Dr. Klaus Buchner, who bravely sponsored a new report exposing the corruption of the science of 5G and cell phone radiation.”

In Patricia Burkes’ latest Safe Tech International blog which discusses the polycrisis and evolutionary traps, she speculates on what SpaceX would look like if Taylor Swift were in charge. In the blog, Patricia included a link to Keb’ Mo’s extremely moving tribute to his mother, Put a woman in charge.

Patricia explains that Taylor Swift was deeply pained when learning of the death of a fan who had been waiting outside before the start of a concert. Were Taylor Swift heading SpaceX when their workers were injured and dying, or when its recent failed satellite launches wreaked havoc on the surrounding environment, would things have been handled differently, Patricia wondered:

I’d like to think that if Taylor Swift were in charge of SpaceX development, that she would have already sat with the families of the dead and injured workers and called for corrective measures. I’d like to think that the satellite launches would be halted. I’d like to think that if Taylor were in charge of the FCC, that we would have already halted the misbegotten idea of a smart grid and wireless smart meters. I’d like to think that cell towers and 5G would not be installed.

We don’t need to conjecture about how Michèle Rivasi would have responded were, hypothetically, she heading SpaceX. We know. Her life’s journey was one of fierce compassion, conviction and empathy. She was truly a woman in charge – perhaps a polycrisis in her own rite to entrenched powers that be. A woman who dedicated her life to making this world a better place, and who will be sorely missed.
