He spoke in Milan at the recent national conference promoted by the Italian Electro-sensitive Association. He is one of the leading experts in the world on the dangers of electrosmog in the interaction with the ecosystem and human beings: Olle Johansson, former head of the Experimental Unit of Dermatology, Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, and former adjunct professor of the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, is now retired and head of The Institute of Common Sense for Common Sense, Utö / Stockholm (Sweden). The following text reports Johansson’s statements on 5G, translated by Giancarlo Ugazio, former professor of General Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Turin and other American universities, since 2010 member of the national scientific technical committee as well as National Scientific Coordinator of the Asbestos and Environmental Diseases Observatory.
“As a scientist and a citizen, I don’t know if the new version of wireless telecommunication, the so-called 5G, is safe or not. Neither the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which is an independent agency of the United States government, created by the statute to regulate interstate communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable, nor the American Food and Drug Administration ( FDA), which is a federal agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, one of the United States federal operational departments.
When on September 7, 2018 in the Senate of Commerce, Science and Transportation, US Senator Richard Blumenthal was asked for the hearing on the future of 5G wireless technology and their impact on the American people and the economy of why there is a lack of any scientific research and data on the potential health risks of 5G technology, and where it has also criticized the FCC and FDA for inadequate answers on public health issues, has had to firmly point out that wireless carriers do not report any studies independent science on 5G security!
On April 15, 2019, Representative (Rep) Peter A. De Fazio, chair of Parliament’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, wrote a letter to FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and FDA Commissioner Norman Sharpless, asking for information on the state of government research on the potential health effects of radio frequency (RF) radiation and its relationship to FCC guidelines for safe human RF exposure levels, in light of the Commission’s stimulus to implement 5G technology and over 800,000 new antenna installations in the United States, in order to provide fast Internet service to 99% of Americans within six years.
Representative De Fazio pointed out that although the Commission asked for comment on whether its RF safety guidelines should be reassessed in 2013, no further steps have been taken and the guidelines have not been updated since their amendment in 1996. The De Fazio’s letter asks for details about the health studies conducted and what efforts have been made by agencies to educate and inform the public about his research on RF / 5G technology. Again, from a consumer perspective, it goes without saying that nothing is on the FDA or FCC records.
However, all over the world, consumers / citizens and politicians in our parliament are still told, eg. by the Swedish, Norwegian and Danish government authorities, that there is no cause for concern about health radiation. Excuse me! If no one – including the American FCC and FDA – is aware of independent scientific studies on the safety of 5G, then I must be very concerned considering the fact that from the current vast scientific literature, counting more than 26,000 relevant entries in the different literature database, from the other levels of G, such as 2G, 3G and 4G, as well as similar exhibits from TV and radio towers, baby alarms, smart meters and power lines, it is obvious that we must proceed with utmost caution before submerging the citizens and our wildlife in increasingly powerful artificial electromagnetic fields.
In practice, we could already seriously endanger our current and future generations. Failure to act today could turn out to be disastrous tomorrow, and this lack of action could again translate into the classic “late lessons from the first warnings”, or – even worse – “lessons too late …”.
And for all civil servants – employed by various government authorities – actively enticing their own government and parliament must be taken very seriously. I believe that engaging in such an act is called “high treason”, or …? I, as a scientist, am not here to promote profit or economic gain, but only to “facilitate and protect” human health, as well as directly protect animals, plants and bacteria. These aims must be my only goal, not to assure consumers or parliamentarians that “there is no cause for alarm”, which would be a blatant lie. “
